UNIQA is a small, permanent, Swiss-made lens customized to your eye and placed inside of it, without removing or replacing your eye's own natural lens. Think of it as an additional, corrective lens working together with your natural eye, similar in idea to a contact lens, except this one sits inside the eye itself, out of sight and out of the way.

How the UNIQA Procedures Works

Four steps to clear vision
Personal Consultation & Eye Mapping
During your consultation, a personalized treatment plan is made after measuring and examining your eyes. Based on these measurements, a lens designed to fit the unique dimensions of your eye will be selected and ordered.
Preparing the Lens Insertation
On surgery day, numbing drops are applied to ensure a painless experience. Your surgeon then creates a small incision on the cornea, either manually or with the support of a femtosecond laser, small enough that stitches usually aren't needed.
Lens Insertion & Positioning
The UNIQA lens is carefully folded and gently guided through the small incision into your eye. Once inside, your surgeon unfolds it and adjusts its position with precision, making sure it sits exactly where it needs to for the best possible visual outcome, all while your natural lens remains completely undisturbed.
The insertion is quick and straightforward, typically taking only 15 to 20 minutes.
Recovery
Because the procedure is minimally invasive, recovery is typically quick. Many patients notice an improvement in their vision within a short time, and most return to their everyday activities within just a few days. Your surgeon will give you personalized aftercare instructions to support healing.
How do you know if UNIQA is right for you?
Thanks to the many benefits UNIQA offers, the procedure is suitable for individuals regardless of the severity of their refractive errors.
It is especially ideal for people:
-Who are between 21 and 45 years old
-Who have eyes with a suitable shape to accommodate the lens, as determined by clinicians.
-Who have specific corneal anatomy (such as thin corneas) that makes other procedures unsuitable.
-Who have refractive errors, between 0.5D and -30.0D or +0.5D and +3.5D.
-Who have a stable prescription, with no change greater than 0.5 diopters in the past year.
-Who have severe nearsightedness and are recommended by clinician
-Who have risk factors for dry eye syndrome.
